Our Privacy policy

Introduction

StrategicExportControls.org (SEC) provides online training and assessment on Strategic Export Controls for the UK defence industry, to support responsible exporting, and demonstrate commitment to compliance.

The programmes have been developed by Cranfield University.

The Strategic Export Controls online training service is hosted, managed and supported by Cranfield University and is therefore subject to the Cranfield University Privacy Policy.

Use of personal data within SEC

Protecting personal data and privacy is important to us. Your personal information entered by your Company Manager will be used in the creation of the SEC account. The following minimum set of personal data is required to create the account; your title, first name, family name, company and email address. This information, and the transaction made when purchasing the training credits, forms a contractual agreement with the purchasing organisation and Cranfield University without which we cannot provide the service.

When you first log into the SEC service you will be prompted to confirm that all of the personal data listed is correct. You will be able to update and amend most of your personal data within the portal prior to taking the assessment. Once the course assessment has been taken the certificate will be generated, and for integrity reasons, requests to change data must be submitted to your Company Manager.

We give control over personal data to delegates and their Company Manager. We do this with the expectation that this control will not be misused to reallocate a ‘credit’ to another user by renaming the account. Automatic notifications will be sent to the Cranfield TEBS team when any changes to name and email addresses are made within the system. If we conclude that the account has been renamed to reallocate the credit to another delegate the account will be disabled and the credit lost.

Company Managers will have access to the personal data of delegates within their organisation only, this includes information on whether the assessment has been taken, passed or failed.
